Silicon (Si) Windows have the advantages of wide transmission band (covering 1.2-7um), low cost and low density, which are very suitable for weight-sensitive applications, especially in the 1.65 - 5μm area.

Czochralski (Cz) Silicon is commonly used as a substrate material for infrared reflectors and windows in the 1.5μm-8μm region. It is frequently used for laser mirrors because of its high thermal conductivity and low density. Silicon is also a useful transmitter in 20μm range.
